Barbara Pompili: This is one of the most difficult environmental negotiations in a long time. The positions taken in plenary sessions are the most visible part of the discussions, but also the least constructive. What matters most is what happens behind the scenes, during bilateral meetings or with groups of countries. All of our teams' work has focused on identifying the strategic interlocutors with whom to discuss and move the needle.
